Draw a cabinet how it looks, fixes the distance, measures the opening place, etc… You can be cut sheets off of the pictures.
Cut All the Plywood in Right Size
Now you have to break down the sheets of plywood. Take a woodcutter and cut all off the plywood in the right size. If you use a crosscut sled, you can quickly cut the piece. Cut some larger pieces, a medium piece, and a piece for the door. After cutting down all the parts, make some correct joinery.
Joinery Making
Making pocket holes is one of the most important parts here. Take a large piece of plywood, then put two small pieces on it. Use a jig so it can support the edge.
For wall-mounted cabinets, you will have to make sure to drill the wall deep. Install two nuts on two sides with a drill bit and make pocket holes on both sides of the plywood.
How Deep Should Garage Cabinets Be?
A garage shelf should be deep enough to store most of the DIY and Automotive tools and small pieces. It should have compartments so that you can keep things categorically.
It will help you to find items quickly. So, to me, the depth should be 17,” and for keeping the smaller parts, small chambers will be 10″.
Make Cabinet
Assemble table papers on the table and attach them with the tape measure. Put the cabinet bodies together on it and glue all the joints. Attach the pocket holes with screws. You will need four pieces of plywood to make one cabinet.

After making all the various size cabinets, joints them together using glue and joinery. We have used different techniques for side by side and up-down wood pieces.
Now mark the stud location on the wall and install the cleat. It will make the surface level and flat. After that, install the upper cabinets on the studs. You can make three or more pieces of cabinets depends on your wall size.
Attaching the Wood Shelf and Shelves

Make Holes on The Front Side
Use a jig and make holes at the front to place cabinet doors. You can make the holes before installing the cabinets, but on my side, I find it easy to make holes after installing the cabinets.
For making the shelf area, you need to make shelf pin holes and then use the shelf pin to attach the parts. Small shelves are there to keep DIY items, automotive impact wrenches, or tiny screws, which come in handy while doing the automotive works.
Make Frames
- To make face frames, measure the cabinets, and rip some woods with the correct size.
- Cut down the woods with a woodcutter, then lay down the pieces on the table and assemble them.
- Mark the area to make pocket holes and drill them.
- Use Kreg jig to make those holes.
Assembles the frames correctly so that they cannot shift. Use clamps to hold the piece together, then apply glue on them. After that, install nuts on the pocket holes.
When you finished making a face frame, glue the cabinets, and install the structures on it. After that, screw them well so the frames won’t be loose. You can install the frames while hanging or lying the cabinets on the floor, then installing them.
Make the Cabinet Doors
Cut the right piece of woods to make cabinet doors. You can change the joinery system here. Pocket holes are also better. It depends on you. But the tongue and groove joinery will look better. Cut the wood center panel for the cabinet door.
A quarter-inch size will be better. After cutting all of the door pieces, glue up the joints, and assemble the parts. You do not have to glue the center panel. Just glue up on the joints is ok.
Mount the Cabinet Door
After making the cabinet doors, it’s time to paint them. You can either use spray paint or brush paint or keep the doors raw. But if you decide to paint your cabinet and door, you have to uninstall it again. Then sand down the entire face frame and use a vacuum to remove the dust from door panels and cabinets. After that, paint all the cabinets and doors.
If you made pocket holes, use concealed hinges to the door. Use a double-sided jig to the door corner and attach them. Install the hinges on the door with the drill bit on both sides. After that, use another 3d printed jig to make drawer pulls. Cut a spacer in the correct size so that you can mount the doors easily.
