Before buying a truck and the three of them, GMC Sierra, Ford f-15, and Chevy Silverado 1500 always come first. The heavy-duty truck has huge competition, so the manufacturers continuously update its features to meet your needs.
People mostly see the torque rating, towing capacity, payload capacity, etc. Each of these truck models comes with excellent power and capacity. Some may use more fuel than others but have great similarities in their activities. But they have differences too.
Comparison of GMC Vs. Chevy Vs. Ford
Each of these trucks has all the features you want, yet you need to consider several options.
GMC Vs. Chevy Vs. Ford: Engine Configuration
The main purpose of buying a GMC Sierra, Chevy, or ford is to tow heavy loads, which is only possible with a powerful engine. They got gasoline or diesel-fed engines with ten-speed automatic transmission. The Sierra and Silverado both use a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 diesel and gas engine.
The ford f-15 uses 6.2L V8 gasoline or a 6.7L V8 diesel engine. The Silverado gasoline engine has 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque with an excellent air intake and modifications. The diesel engine type has 445 horsepower and 920 lb-ft of torque, which is huge.
The gasoline engine of GMC Sierra has 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine of Sierra got the same horsepower and torque as the Silverado 1500.
The ford f-15 gasoline engine got 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, and the diesel engine had 475 horsepower and 1050 lb-ft of torque. In this case, the ford f-15 6.7L V8 diesel engine gets the heist place in three of them.
Specification of Ford vs. Chevy Silverado
The ford, GMC, and Chevy pickup trucks have six seating capacities, so their overall length is the same, 231.7 inches.
The width of ford is 79.9 inches, and Chevy and Sierra are 81.2 inches. The heights are almost the same, 75.6 inches. And with a good shock for chevy 1500 and other models, the height can go beyond that.
However, ford has lower width than Chevrolet and Sierra. Also, ford has a smaller wheelbase than the two. They also offer some great height adjustment modifications on the market to roll on a heavy rough road.
The Ford F-150 got 77.4 cu ft cargo box volume, and Chevy Silverado and GMCSierra have 89.1 cu ft cargo volume.
Towing Capacity of Chevy, Ford, and GMC
The tow rating is the most important thing to consider when buying a light-duty truck. These three trucks can tow a family boat, but the power is different. Here ford gets the highest number as it can tow up to 37,000 pounds, whereas Chevy and GMC have 35,000 pounds of maximum towing capacity.
If you add a gooseneck trailer to your ford, it can haul almost anything. Silverado and Sierra can tow up to 17,400 pounds with a gasoline engine, and ford can tow 21,000 pounds. However, the gasoline engine does not have that much max towing capacity.
Payload Capacity
Ford wins over the payload capacity too. If your ford has a super-duty bed, the payload capacity is 7,850 with the gas engine. Silverado and Sierra have 6,532 payload capacity.
Most of the important thing with chevy trucks is they can be modified with chevy lift kit, fuel economy programs, tires, and many more. GMC and Ford also have those, but my personal favorite is Chevy if you are looking for capacity modification.
Fuel Economy
The 2021 Ford F-150 vehicle gets the highest fuel economy in the city. The EPA estimated mpg is 25 in the city and 26 on the highway. Chevrolet Silverado offers 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the road and can beyond with a better tuner for fuel economy.
GMC Sierra has a lower mpg than these two. It has 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. However, the differences are not that big.
Price
The GMC Sierra base price is $37,195 for a gas engine and $12,115 more for a diesel engine. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is $36,500 for a gas engine and $50,060 for a diesel engine.
The 2021 Ford F-150 starts from $29,640. The super cab model starts from $33,025, and super crew models are from $36,650.
Safety
Safety consideration is the top priority when you purchase one.
Chevy Silverado also has those two options, so these three trucks are real safety concerns.
Special Features
Ford f-150, GMC, and Silverado have special features like a rearview camera with standard equipment, driving information, etc. they also have storage bins inside the cabin.
Which is More Reliable? Ford, Chevy, or GMC?
The reliability depends on the truck’s towing capacity, durability, fuel economy, performance, and budget. Each of these trucks has enough power and capabilities with its two-wheel drive, which makes you confused about choosing one of them.
If you have enough budget to purchase a high-capacity truck, go for the ford f-150 as it is more reliable than Chevy or Silverado. Ford has bin storage under the seats. It also has ample pickup bed space and a turbo engine.
You can also buy Chevy or GMC because they are reliable in every sector that people want.
Why is GMC More Expensive than Chevy?
GMC and Chevy have many similarities, but their price range is different. GMC targets the luxury market and chooses to stand apart from a normal one to keep its design exclusive and well-rounded.
It is more outfitted than Chevy and has updated features like adaptive ride control, upper-end engines, etc., which makes the GMS expensive than Chevy.
Ford Vs. Chevy Vs. GMC: What is the Longest-Lasting Truck?
Ford f-150, Chevy, and GMC is heavy-duty truck, but ford gets the highest mileage as it has power stroke diesel engine with a ten-speed transmission and 6 to 7 power stroke. It has a consistent tow, haul mode, better exhaust system and you will be happy with the performance.
The ford also has a better engine brake that truck drivers can drive on mountain roads easily. these features make the truck longest-lasting than GMC and Silverado.
